New York City (33 geographic districts) enrolled 837,777 pupils in 2024–25, more than any other public school district. The 100 largest enrolled 10,233,980, 20.8% of the pupils in all 19,216 districts.

- Pupils per teacher is the district’s own membership over its own full-time-equivalent teachers, both from its district file. Where a district reports no teachers there is no ratio.
