How to read this

  • The rank is by the latest published month. The fiscal-year column covers the first 11 months of fiscal year 2026 and will not match the monthly order, because a sector busy across the year can be quiet in one month.
  • Fiscal year 2026 is still running. The column is a part year and is not comparable with a completed year.
  • An area of responsibility is the sector or field office that recorded the encounter, not where a person entered or intended to go.
  • Border Patrol sectors cover the stretches between ports of entry. Field offices cover ports of entry, including airports and seaports, so a field office ranking high is not a statement about a land border.
  • Encounters are events, not people. The same person may be encountered more than once, and in more than one sector.
  • Where CBP published no row for a sector in a month, that month is absent rather than zero, and it is named on the sector’s own page.
