How to read this

  • CBP names 21 countries in this file and groups every other nationality into one residual row. That row carries 6,538 encounters in August 2026, 19.0% of the total. It is kept in the table because leaving it out would make the named countries look like the whole, and it has no page of its own because it is not a country.
  • Citizenship is what CBP recorded at the encounter. It is not a claim about where a person lived, travelled from, or was born.
  • Encounters are events, not people. A country’s figure is not a count of its citizens.
  • Fiscal year 2026 is still running: that column is the first 11 months and is not comparable with a completed year.
  • These counts describe enforcement activity. They do not measure migration from any country.
